Getting Involved
This thread's purpose is to help you get started in your Ace Attorney roleplay.
You may also use this thread for OOC plotting, brainstorming,
or soliciting characters("does anyone want to play Apollo with my Trucy?").
General chat not involving the roleplay belongs in the General forum.
For in character and out of character rules, please see the Rules forum.

▶How do I get started?
You should start by picking a character you like and are interested in playing.
Canon characters are usually expected to use their sprites.
Please see the Setting Sprites thread for more details.
If you are playing an original character, please ensure
you have some way to visually represent them.

▶What should I do?
When in doubt, try lurking first to see if tonally this is the kind of role-play for you.
We are very casual, especially in the Locations subforum, and there's not many wrong things that can happen.
When you get a feel for what everybody else is doing, try hopping in whenever it's convenient for you,
just please make sure your profile's been approved before you do.

▶How do I do a case?
Case workloads are typically handled by the administrator.
Defending a case means you'll be hands-off in the making of it
(defense attorneys are expected to do puzzles and figure out the mystery to replicate the in-game feel).
Prosecuting the case does mean you'll be casing. Prosecutors do not have to do casing themselves but they will know the details of cases.
If you're interested in a case, it means a case has to be made,
and people's roles have to be figured out prior to anything else. Please see the Case Interest thread for more information.

▶My conversation fizzled, what do I do?
Conversations start and end naturally. If it's been 24 hours since your last post after your conversation
has ended and you'd like to play your character starting a 'New day', you're permitted to.
Most people will adhere to small, daily timeskips, and those participating in important conversations that cannot be skipped will continue on.

▶I want to volunteer for(role)...
Great!
If you're looking to play a specific role for something(a villain/prosecutor/defense attorney/sidekick/ect)
for organized play, please refer to the Case Interest thread.
For ease of planning, Discord is mandatory for more prevalent roles in cases.

▶Do I have to do cases or investigations?
No. Trials and investigations are optional.
They'll still be prevalent in-story(characters will refer to current trials, news, and crimes as gossip options),
but nobody has to participate a trial or investigation if they don't want to.
